How to FAKE Portrait Mode on Any Smartphone! [Snapseed App]

Portrait mode is really awesome especially on my Pixel 2, which has a front portrait mode and the results are amazing as if shot with a DSLR camera.  Well, even if you don’t have a Pixel 2, you can fake portrait mode on any smartphone using Snapseed(available for both Android and iOS).

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1. Take a photo, preferably in good lighting so your subject is in perfect focus.  Then open the photo with Snapseed app and choose “Lens Blur” under “Tools”.

Step 2. Adjust the inner circle so it fits inside your subject.  In this case, we are going to fit the inner circle inside my face.

Also adjust the outer circle so it aligns with the edges.

Step 3. Adjust the “Blur Strength” and “Transition” to your liking.  You can repeat Step 2-3 a few times to get the first blur and edge sharpness you want.  The more time you spend, the better it will look.

Step 4. Export the photo to save then post them up on your Instagram, see if your friends can tell if it’s been faked.  Have a good laugh and share this tutorial with friends who have older phones without portrait mode.
