How to Install Android 5.0 Lollipop Keyboard!

For those of you who have a Nexus 5, you probably are already trying out the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM.

Lollipop should be coming to all other Androids soon but in the meanwhile you can still enjoy the Android 5.0 Lollipop keyboard “today” on any Android smartphone or tablet.  And no, root is not required.

Thanks to XDA user Shaftamle, we can now install this as a simple APK file!

Step 1. Download the Lollipop Keyboard APK file. – Download

Step 2. Install the APK file.  You can usually just click on the download link.  If it doesn’t install for some reason, use any file explorer app (like ES File Explorer app on Play Store) to install it.

Make sure you enable “Unknown sources” on in Settings->Security.

Step 3. The keyboard will default to Halo theme, go into Settings->Language and Input then hit the Settings icon on Lollipop Keyboard.

Step 4. Go to “Appearance & layouts”.

Step 5. Change the theme to “Material Light” or “Material Dark”, which is the new Android 5.0 Lollipop theme.

Step 6. Enjoy your new Android 5.0 Lollipop keyboard!

    I cannot find any real keyboard settings in 5. I miss the num row on top and other settings and was using the keyboard from your site but I cannot find it.

    I’m guy from Zimbabwe. Loving your YouTube channel as well as the website…..very cool. Only draw back o see with the lollipop keyboard on my note 2 running dn4 is the lack on the number keys at the top of the keyboard. Its seems silly but when its not there you actually want it.

    Install google keyboard from play store. No special keyboard apk files needed.
