“Insufficient storage space available in System partition” While Installing Gapps?

Are you getting the following message while installing Gapps?

“Insufficient storage space available in System partition. You may want to use a smaller GApps (i.e. Mini Modular GApps),
You need “,file_getprop(“/tmp/gapps.prop”,”free_space_reqd_kb”),” KB system free space.
You only have “, file_getprop(“/tmp/gapps.prop”,”free_system_size_kb”),” KB available.”

This may happen on older phones when you use the standard “stock” Gapps.  This is because older phones do not have as much system space.

Solution?

Easy, just use micro versions of Gapps here:

Download Android 4.4.4 Micro Gapps

Download Android 4.4.3 Micro Gapps

    I am having this problem. I tried re-installing cyanogenmod 4.4.4 and the micro gapps. I ran clear the davlik and partition cache but still not able to install anything. Do I need to format the phone then install? Also, I saw your posts about liquid smooth and carbon, are these better roms?
    thanks

    The weird thing is that the full gapps provided by Cyanogenmod (gapps-kk-20140606-signed) at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps have been installed correctly with no issue, while the mini modular, which is supposed to be smaller, have not.

    Also get the insufficient storage on the system partition. I’m having a Samsung Galaxy S2. There is more than 1GB free space on the phone but still cannot install the pa_gapps-modular-full-4.4.4-20141103-signed.zip.
    I can install gapps-kk-20140606-signed.zip without problems. Unfortunately this is not for 4.4.4.

    Do I need to clean up the phone or is it just a wrong check for free space?

    Any help is appreciated.

    I’ve got a solution that might help…(only for error code 70)

    1. Open the log file in notepad++ for the error the system has created normally named as [open_gapps_log.txt ].

    2.Search for the [Additional Space Required (KB) | 213028(size may vary) ]. let the size be req_size.
    3.Now there will be a table given below pen down the apps you wouldn’t need(u have to even if you need 😉 ).

    4.Make sure that the net size of the apps you wrote must be greater than req_size;

    5.Open the compressed gapps file. open GApps folder and delete all the files from the archive that you wrote .

    6.Now open installer.DATA in notepad++.

    7. Under the tag [GApps List (Applications user can Select/Deselect)], Search for the type of Gapps you downloaded[eg. pico_gapps, micro_gapps, mini_gapps,full_gapps ], mine was full_gapps.

    8. Now delete the names that you wrote under the [your gapps file name]_list=”.

    9. Save the file and is now ready to be installed.
