For those of you with a rooted Android smartphone or tablet, you are in luck as AOKP Team has finally released the very first stable Android 4.2.2 version today dubbed “MR1 Milestone 1” for many different Android devices including Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Droid Razr, and many more.

What’s new?

Anytime AOKP Team puts a “milestone” tag on their version name tells us that it’s a proven, “stable” version. Also with the latest version you will find a new Power menu in ROM Control settings along with custom toggle option in Status Toggles.

AOKP has come a long ways as their blog post suggested, they’ve just broken through a million downloads. Wow, that is awesome!

Certainly, if you want a really, stable Android 4.2.2 AOSP ROM (What is AOSP?) with customization that even Google likes to copy off (Lockscreen widgets on Android 4.2.2 was practically invented by AOKP), definitely you can’t go wrong with AOKP ROM.

AOKP Team is still adding more devices so if your device isn’t listed yet, we suggest you to check back.

If you do have a device that’s currently supported, definitely flash it ASAP and tell us your thoughts on the latest MR1 Milestone 1, we think you will like it much, no?

You can read up on full AOKP ROM Control settings here or watch video tutorial below:

To install, reboot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset (unless coming from AOKP ROM), install ROM, install Gapps, then reboot!

Max, would you happen to know if the mhl hdmi adapter is working for video again? I know it never used to work for mirror image, but Aokp and CM used to both work for video only on their JB 4.1.1 versions. But last time I tried the non stable 4.2 it didn’t work. It’s important for me so I’m stuck on Sammy rom for now. Thanks

Same error with the SGH i317m from Telus (Gnote2)

          • Max Lee says:

You can try updating your CWM recovery using ROM Manager then try re-install. This is an error on developers part putting the wrong asserts but only way to get around without editing the zip file is to install another recovery.

  9. Keith says:

I installed Mildstone 1 on my verizon galaxy s3 but when it booted back from the install (installed with ROM manager from a zip file on the phone) it hung at the animation screen (twice). Finally pulled the battery and booted into touch recovery and reinstalled my backup from rom manager.

Oh well, I was looking forward to messing around with it.

  10. NinjaBeast says:

Thanks Max.. I was with CWM, installed TWRP 2.5.0.0 and now running AOKP on my Telus Gnote 2 (SGH-i317m) !!

  11. Warandco says:

    Hey Max,

I flashed this ROM yesterday on my Galaxy Nexus I9250 GSM.
After i rebooted i couldn’t use the android keyboard anymore due to instant crash every time i try to use it.
Couldn’t figure out why so i went back to build6 of the MR1 ROM.
Can you help me out with this pls?

  12. jaber says:

hi thanx for the fast reply just want to ask you this im runing a touchwiz on my galaxy s3 i9300 what exacly i have to do while im on recovery mode i havent flash any custom rom before i know how i watch your video but just to make sure nothing go wrong waiting for your reply

  13. Willie Hii says:

HI.I just want to ask i am currently using supernexus 2 rom.So did i need to factory reset all the data or i can just flash the new rom?

    • Dev says:

Even I have got the same query, well now I guess you could have figured it by now and let me know about it. For flashing with a new ROM, is it prerequisite to reset/wipe all data and then continue flashing with a new ROM. BTW, how is supernexus 2 rom? Do you have the files for downloading. Currently, the XenonHD gonna rule my device for sometime.

  14. jose guzman says:

hey Does this ROM works on google nexus S(crespo)??
    thanx…

  15. Casz says:

Hey Johnathan have you noticed any bugs on build 6? I tried the m1 and had the same issue with the no sound and such noticed it when making calls, currently using macks’s plain Jane it seems nice but I’ve always liked the nexus feel that you get with the AOKP type of roms. So if build 6 is stable please let me know so I can give it a test drive

  16. MAD says:

    Hey there Max ..

I have installed the AOKP MR1 Milestone 1 ROM on my (maguro) GSM Galaxy Nexus ..

It’s nice, stable and fast ..
Also the battery life is really great too !

    Loved it !!

Only I have one issue ..

(LightFlow) is one of the important apps I use ..

    I installed it ..
But when I open it ..

    It gives me :
” Please wait, identifying apps ”

Which it suppose to come whenever you open it the app for the first time ..

But mine, gets stuck there !

I have to force close it ..
And it doesn’t work anymore ..

Please I hope you reply soon,
And check if there is any solution to solve that !

    Thank you very much

Hi Max …why no milestone for S3 sprint ?????

    • Max Lee says:

only phone not supported by AOKP team but there are alternatives like JellyBAM or Pacman both which come with AOKP.

  18. Mike says:

can you run 2 apps on screen at the same time and does the pop up side bar work in this rom?

  19. Ryan says:

    Hi max,
Can i flash this on samsung note n7000 international version?

  20. Andre Felipe says:

Hi Max, I have a Galaxy SII rooted it with CWM v6.0.3.1.
I’ve sucessfully installed aokp_i9100_jb-mr1_milestone-1.zip and Gapps from my external SD card. Only strange thing is that, after this, I cant see the contents of the root folder of the SD card (/sdcard/external_sd) with ES filemanager. I can see only a “data” folder in there.

But if I go to /extSdCard (with root) I see everything that’s in the SD card.

I think it’s a matter of permissions. But I’ve already tried the “fix permissions” option in CWM. Did not work, or did not fix the permissions of the /sdcard/external_sd.

What should I do? I thought about copying everything to my PC, then reformat the SD card to see what happens. But haven’t tried yet.

Best regards and congratulations for the very good HowTo.
    André Felipe
