Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus – Stuff you MUST DO After Buying!

In this tutorial, we show you stuff you absolutely MUST DO after buying the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus to take full advantage of its new features.

First, if you are using an IRIS scanner for security, make sure you have “Iris unlock when screen turns on” option ON in settings.  If you don’t do this, you will have to hit the Power button then swipe up to get the IRIS scanner working.  Samsung does not keep this ON by default.

Second, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have hidden feature for the finger sensor.  Simply activate the “Finger Sensor Gestures” and you will be able to use your finger print sensor to check your notification panel.

Third, you can easily change the navigation bar to your liking including colors and button layout.  If you are like me who prefers stock Android, you can switch the button layout easily.

Fourth, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus does NOT run in its specified resolution of 2960×1440 while all of its predecessors like S7 Edge have.  In fact, you will be stuck on 1080P videos on YouTube and everywhere else unless you change it.   Set the screen resolution to 2960×1440 and voila!  You’ve unlocked the full resolution of the phone.

Fifth, blue light filter is great for minimizing damage to your eyes and also getting good night’s sleep when using your phone at night.  Now, you can have this turn on automatically by settings “Sunset to sunrise”, which will automatically turn on sunset in your timezone and turn off when the sun comes up.  Brilliant!

Lastly but not least, curved screen means it is more susceptible to screen cracking easily, especially when you drop it on the edges.  Get a case that will protect your edge screen as it costs $400 USD to replace a curved screen on brand, new phones.

If you don’t like a case, make sure you get insurance!
