Gear VR Unboxing! – Note 4 Virtual Reality Glasses!

If there was one single reason to get a Galaxy Note 4 this year, it’s definitely this, the next Oculus Rift made by Samsung called “Gear VR”.

I’ve always been a fan of virtual reality stuff but I didn’t want to spend hundreds of dollar on one.  Well, the Gear VR is only $199, probably the lowest starting point for virtual reality given that you already have a Galaxy Note 4 smartphone.

This is the first time I’ve ever tried a virtual reality device and boy, it’s definitely an eye-opening experience as this is as real as the digital world gets.  Many years ago in college I dreamed that one day we will no longer be using computers but virtual reality devices to do all of our computing.  Well, this may just be the tip of the iceburg but it should get better as we go along.

The Gear VR is a nicely-designed headset with lenses to give you a 3D virtual reality world allowing you to watch 3D movies, 360-degree movies/games, and much more.

Here’s a quick video of the Gear VR See Through Demo using GoPro:

For now, I think Gear VR certainly deserves the “Best Android Gadget of the Year 2014” award (that award actually belong to Note 4 before) along with the Galaxy Note 4.  If you have not tried virtual reality, it’s time to get one as it will definitely change the way you think about computers.

In comparison to Google Glass, although virtual reality glasses are built for different purpose, I do see Gear VR being much more efficient at actually allowing the user to do things (like browsing through the UI much quickly).  Without a doubt, I am very impressed and if you have a Note 4, you MUST get one of these, you won’t regret it.
