How to Root OnePlus 5T! [Windows/Mac/Linux][Android 8.0/8.1 Oreo]

In this video tutorial, I am going to show you how to root the OnePlus 5T on Windows, Mac, or Linux.  If you are new to rooting, be sure to follow the video tutorial step-by-step and you should have zero problems.  Now, rooting will ERASE EVERYTHING on your OnePlus 5T since we will be unlocking the bootloader, which will wipe everything.  Make sure to backup anything you want to save such as your photos, personal files, etc…etc…

This root method is for Android 7.1.1 and Android 8.0 or 8.1 Oreo.

If you are looking for root method for OnePlus 6, please see How to Root OnePlus 6 on Windows/Mac/Linux!

You can download all the files on our TWRP recovery page.  You will need to download fastboot.zip, Windows USB drivers(if using Windows), Magisk zip, and OnePlue 5T TWRP image file.   That is FOUR files you need to download.

Commands for Windows:

cd Downloads
cd fastboot
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery o5ttwrp.img

Commands for Mac:

cd Downloads
cd fastboot
chmod 755 *
./fastboot-mac oem unlock
./fastboot-mac flash recovery o5ttwrp.img

Commands for Linux/Ubuntu:

cd Downloads
cd fastboot
chmod 755 *
sudo ./fastboot-linux oem unlock
sudo ./fastboot-linux flash recovery o5ttwrp.img
