In this Android Root 101 series, we are going to learn how to install TWRP & root with Magisk on any Samsung Android(that has an unlocked bootloader). This is the “universal method” you can use to install TWRP recovery on any Samsung Android device with unlocked bootloader and also root easily using Magisk.
For those of you who want to get Google Pixel 2’s portrait mode on your Galaxy phone(supports all Galaxy phones including Galaxy S9+, S9, Note 8, S8, S8 Plus, S7, S7 Edge, S6, S6 Edge, etc…etc… running Android 7.0 Nougat or 8.0 Oreo), you can now easily get it without having to buy the Pixel 2. While newer Samsung phones like S9+ and Note 8 have live focus feature, Google’s HDR camera does much better job with portrait mode allowing you to be also much closer to your subject. Best of all, you also get front portrait mode working, which I think is the coolest feature.
For those of you who want to try out Samsung Galaxy S8 AOD(Always-On-Display) on your Galaxy phone (such as Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, or any older Galaxy devices running S7 Edge Ported custom ROM), you can easily do it with the Galaxy S8 AOD APK file, which was pulled straight from a real Galaxy S8. This will give you several new features including swipe actions in your always-on-display and also you can set your edge screen as AOD (edge screen feature only works if you have edge screen phone). There also may be some other new features I may have missed. So, let’s go do this!
Galaxy S8 launcher and Bixby APK files are now available and these can be installed on any Samsung Galaxy device running Android 7.0 Nougat. Currently, I was able to get it running on my Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and Note 5.
