If there’s one reason to buy the LG V40, LG’s latest flagship, it’s ALL about its 5 cameras, the most cameras on a smartphone to date until Samsung copies and launches the Galaxy S10 next year. With 3 dedicated rear cameras and 2 front cameras, the LG V40 can give you more camera angles from a single smartphone than any other smartphone on the market. In this review, I really wanted to focus on its 5 cameras, since the LG V40 is really about the cameras along with its hidden advanced features you probably will never use.
Which is the best Android smartphone of 2018? I give you 1 minute quick comparison reviews of Pixel 3 vs. Pixel 3 XL vs. Galaxy Note 9 vs. Xiaomi Mi8 vs. Pocophone vs. LG V40 vs. OnePlus 6, giving you quick insights into the good and bad of these Android smartphones.
Over the weekend, I took the Pixel 3 and the LG V40 out to an ice rink in San Francisco and took many photos and videos. This was actually pretty interesting comparison as I didn’t expect the LG V40 to come anywhere near the Pixel 3, which probably is the king of smartphone photography. For videos, both seemed to do well with stabilization, I really didn’t see either cameras doing better than another other than LG V40 having 2 extra back cameras, which gives you a lot more options.
LG V40 vs LG G7 vs LG V30 vs Note 9 Which Has the Loudest Sound?
In today’s test, we take the LG V40 and LG G7’s Boombox sound against the LG V30 and the Galaxy Note 9 to see which has the loudest sound. Also, use headphones or desktop speakers to listen to the difference in bass. The LG V40/G7 have VERY awesome bass when placed on top of a big box. But Note 9 has much better stereo sound if you are more acoustic type but bass heads will appreciate LG V40 or G7 more.
In this video, I take the LG V40’s 3 back cameras to the edge of the world to test out its normal, wide-angle, and telephoto cameras. It turns out the wide-angle and telephoto cameras can be VERY USEFUL in situations like mine at the edge of a cliff. Enjoy and don’t forget to hit the thumbs up/subscribe if you enjoy the video, thx! NOTE: Please watch in 1440P or 4K if possible, YouTube rendering is horrible and you may otherwise see artifacts(that I don’t see in my original video).
Here’s a quick video I put together using LG V40 camera in 4K! Now, because a lot of the shots were in super low-light, I did have to apply some noise-reduction in post using Neat Video but still, you can get some decent shots with the LG V40 in low-light using the manual video mode and noise-reduction processing.Thoughts on the LG V40 back cameras for Low Light Videography
About a week back, LG invited me to their event in San Francisco for LG V40 unboxing and first look at their latest flagship. The LG V40 is the world’s first smartphone with 5 cameras(each with a different angle) featuring normal, wide-angle, and 2X telephoto camera on the back along with normal and wide-angle cameras on the front. We have reached an era where more cameras may help consumers ditch their heavy DSLR/mirrorless cameras.
