Galaxy S9+ vs. Pixel 2 XL Camera Comparison! [Part 1][Low-Light/bokeh]

Pixel 2 series (Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL have identical cameras) are the king of smartphone photography and in this camera comparison, we are going to see if Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 Plus can do better.   While I was very excited for the new F1.5 aperture on the Galaxy S9/S9 Plus, after doing some tests it does not live up to expectations.

How to Install Pixel 2 Portrait Mode(Back/Front WORKING) on Any Galaxy Phone!

For those of you who want to get Google Pixel 2’s portrait mode on your Galaxy phone(supports all Galaxy phones including Galaxy S9+, S9, Note 8, S8, S8 Plus, S7, S7 Edge, S6, S6 Edge, etc…etc… running Android 7.0 Nougat or 8.0 Oreo), you can now easily get it without having to buy the Pixel 2.  While newer Samsung phones like S9+ and Note 8 have live focus feature, Google’s HDR camera does much better job with portrait mode allowing you to be also much closer to your subject.  Best of all, you also get front portrait mode working, which I think is the coolest feature.

Spigen sent me some Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL cases, here’s a quick review.

Spigen Liquid Crystal Case has been my all-time favorite for many phones and I love the transparency of the case so I can see through yet it is not bulky and has good lip for protecting the screen.

Pixel 2 4K Cinematic Camera Test! [HandHeld]

In this 4K cinematic camera test, I took the Pixel 2 on a trip to the beach with my daughter Peony to see how well it worked during sunset hours.  To my surprise, the Pixel 2 has an “amazing” stabilization using its OIS/EIS combo.  Now, the original Pixel also had OIS/EIS combo but wasn’t as good as the Pixel 2.  With better processor and better electronic stabilization algorithms, the Pixel 2 behaves like it is on a gimbal during good lighting.   Now, I did find stability does not work as well in low light and I assume this is due to the fact EIS(Electronic Image Stabilization) works by cropping out the mistakes.
