This is a quick review of LineageOS 18.0 Android 11 GSI running on Xiaomi Mi 9. Because this is a really early beta build, you should expect some bugs of course on most devices. For most part, battery life is great, performance is out of this world. There are a few bugs, you can check it out on forum here.
In this tutorial, I show you how to install GSI(Generic System Image) ROMs on any Xiaomi Android device that supports Project Treble.
Here’s my quick review of Xiaomi Mi 9 running CrDroid GSI Android 10 ROM. Really fast performance, excellent battery life, and Magisk SafetyNet check passes with working Google Pay. If you want a really good old phone, I think Xiaomi Mi 9 is a great choice if you install a GSI ROM like this. My current setup here runs waaay faster than my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra w/ Samsung stock firmware. If you want pure Google experience w/ low-cost hardware, Xiaomi phones are where it’s at since they allow you to fully unlock the bootloader and the stock MIUI firmware is nearly 100% compatible with Android AOSP.
For those of you who have “basicIntegrity” pass(check mark) but still does not pass SafetyNet due to “ctsProfile” not passing even with MagiskHide ON, you can easily fix this(which happens on all GSI ROMs) by changing your device fingerprint to a certified phone like a Pixel 4 XL.
Here’s how to install Android 10 or 11 GSI ROMs on your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus! This is only for Exynos models that can have bootloader unlocked. If you want stuff like this, please buy Exynos models next time as Snapdragon U.S. models have locked bootloaders.
After 4 days of quarantine, I was finally able to get Android 11 GSI working fully on my Samsung Galaxy S9. Here’s a quick review of Android 11 running on my Galaxy S9, it runs nearly flawless. Calls work great, 4G LTE signal/WiFi works great, bluetooth works great, brightness works great, stereo speakers work good. The only problem I am currently having is trying to replace the Phhusson’s Android 11 GSI Superuser with Magisk but I am building his GSI from sources and should have one that’s compatible with Magisk soon.
