For those of you who were disappointed at Oxygen OS, the new OS as a result of fallout between CyanogenMod and OnePlus, you may want to consider alternative to Oxygen OS such as the Resurrection Remix ROM.
Heck, they made you root your phone and install TWRP recovery to install Oxygen OS, why not actually take advantage and install the best custom ROM out now?
Resurrection Remix ROM is certainly one of the candidates to that, I’ve personally grown with the ROM over the years (when it was introduced to the Galaxy S2 couple years back) and the founder of Resurrection Remix ROM Westcrip has been around for many years, who I can vouch for.
This ROM is also available for many other Android devices (so check XDA forums) and OnePlus One is one of the best ones to run on as it’s nearly flawless while giving you the latest Android 5.1 and a TON of customization options.
Besides that, by using our HighOnAndroid OnePlusOne Conversion Kit, you can also enjoy many of OnePlus One original features from CM11S such as the OnePlus One camera, AudioFX app(music equalizer), Screencast app (for screen recording), and OnePlus One Hexo theme, all of which is missing with Oxygen OS.
Rather than get mad that you lost essential features of the OnePlus One with the Oxygen OS, definitely give the Resurrection Remix ROM a try. The Resurrection Remix also offers many performance improvements on top of Android 5.1 base, you will be able to feel its sheer power over Oxygen ROM upon installation.
Download:
Download Lollipop firmware update
Download Resurrection Remix for OnePlus One (This is the version I used but check here for latest version.)
Download Android 5.1 Gapps (DO NOT USE OLDER GAPPS, YOU WILL FC!)
Download HighOnAndroid OnePlus One Conversion Kit
Installation is easy, just as usual. (Install firmware update, ROM, Gapps, and the conversion kit, in that order.)
You must have a rooted OnePlus One of course, you can follow my OnePlus One root guide to root.
For root, you MUST enable root for apps and adb, see How to Enable Root on CM12!
Then follow my universal TWRP install guide and also make sure to install the firmware upgrade zip file in TWRP before installing the ROM. Reboot into TWRP recovery, format /system, /data, /cache, /dalvik-cache, install the firmware upgrade zip file, install the ROM, install the Gapps, then reboot. The AK kernel is included in the ROM so you don’t need to flash it separately. That’s it!
