For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus, here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to root your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus along with a full video tutorial you can follow.
For those of you who want to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to the latest Android 8.1 Oreo, you are in luck as there is a stable version of Lineage OS 15.1 ROM that you can run on it if you have one of the models supported. While Samsung has stopped updating stock firmware since Android 5.0 Lollipop, you can still grab the latest and best Android 8.1 Oreo and easily install it. Now, this is an AOSP ROM(What is AOSP?), meaning you won’t be able to get any TouchWiz apps (Samsung apps that depend on Samsung firmware). As far as the S-Pen goes, it still works you will just have to use a 3rd party app(such as Squid) which work just the same.
It seems like Samsung has made some changes to the international Exynos Galaxy S9/S9+ and not all T-Mobile 4G LTE bands are supported this year unlike previous Galaxy phones. AT&T is not affected but if you are on T-Mobile, just know you may get stuck on HSPA+ most of the time if you buy the international Exynos Galaxy S9/S9+ models.
Galaxy S9 Plus camera has F1.5 which probably is best shown by doing a video comparison. In this video comparison, we take up the Galaxy S9 Plus again Pixel 2 XL and see which one does better in low-light and near darkness. Of course, the results are definitely impressive as the S9 Plus kills Pixel 2 XL in terms of clarity, level of noise, and exposure. Galaxy smartphones have always had one of the best(if not the best) performance when it comes to the video category and the Galaxy S9/S9+ has definitely stepped up another level with its F1.5 over last year’s F1.7. Now, I am actually not sure how much of improvement that is so we will do another test on that soon. Stay tuned!
In my last camera comparison between the Galaxy S9+ vs. Pixel 2 XL, a lot of people complained that I was using F1.5 Pro mode during daylight scenes and it probably wasn’t fair since many of the shots from S9+ came out a bit overexposed as the HDR is not enabled in Pro mode. While F1.5 Pro mode is certainly not useful at all times especially when there is too much light, my initial test was to test out amount of bokeh with F1.5, not so much with HDR.
Pixel 2 series (Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL have identical cameras) are the king of smartphone photography and in this camera comparison, we are going to see if Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 Plus can do better. While I was very excited for the new F1.5 aperture on the Galaxy S9/S9 Plus, after doing some tests it does not live up to expectations.
After waiting patiently on an eBay order that never made it on time, I finally got hands on a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus through another eBay seller. And no, this year I am not getting any U.S. Snapdragon models as they have locked bootloaders.(See Which Model is Best for Galaxy S9/S9+ for Root? if you want to root your S9 or S9+) But I was able to finally get hands on a Coral Blue color which was rather surprising since previous Galaxy phones were literally impossible to get a blue version.

In this tutorial/quick HOWTO, I show you how to use animated GIF in your AOD(Always-On-Display) with Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus. P.S. Also works on any older Galaxy phones running S9 ROM.
