I haven’t found a reason to use a tablet for a few years so I haven’t really used them much. But recently, I did find a need for tablet, especially navigating cryptocurrency trading sites, which have a lot of small buttons and options in its desktop version. While I can use my Galaxy S8 Plus(my daily driver) to get my trades done, it was simply not efficient as my desktop computer but I needed something like a tablet that would help me trade on the go. Besides that, I have started also reading e-books and obviously tablet helps with reading a lot more than my phablet. So, I got a new tablet, all for the purposes of getting something done such as trading and reading.
After pre-ordering from a bunch of different eBay sellers and trying to get a hold of blue color, I ended up ordering a Maple Gold dual SIM model SM-G950FD as blue models were either not available or way overpriced. The main reason I got this over the U.S. models is because the bootloader is unlocked on international models and you can easily root the phone.
Here’s unboxing of the new Gear VR w/ Controller, this is the $99 fully immersive Gear VR experience package I got for my pre-order.
For those of you who want to get that cinematic look, you will definitely want to invest in a slider. In the past, I have been using Edelkrone slider, which is an awesome slider but after buying its motorized slider unit, the total cost comes to over $1000 plus it is very heavy.
In my recent trip to Las Vegas, I took a few clips of the Luxor hotel (where I was staying) and put together a quick 4K cinematic test. The results weren’t too shabby. The lighting at Luxor hotel is terrible but it was a great test to do a low-light test. Most of my clips actually have noise in the original clips as there was simply not enough lights in the pyramid. I HAD to use some type of noise reduction program and fortunately I had Neat Video plugin for Adobe Premiere which basically gets rid of noise.
In my recent trip to Las Vegas for the NAB 2017 convention, I brought my new Samsung Gear 360 2017 edition and here is a quick demo of what it can do at my hotel in Luxor. Low light performance is pretty noisy as you can see so I would recommend using it in bright light or sunny conditions to get the best result. Battery life seems to be solid as it literally lasts forever.
