If you need to root your Android smartphone or tablet, you will most likely need to use fastboot and adb tools(except Samsung devices which use ODIN). Normally, fastboot and adb tools are included as part of Android SDK, which is a complete development tool for Android developers. But for rooting, you do not need to download the whole Android SDK, which can take up a lot of space on your hard disk and you just need fastboot and adb tools, which are less than 5MB.
If you mess up a step while rooting your Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus or maybe you just want to go back to stock firmware, you can easily do it using ODIN and stock firmware files. Btw, process is identical for all Galaxy smartphones except the firmware file is different.
For those of you who have rooted your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus using our root guide, you may have rooted with the SuperSU app as Magisk was not compatible with Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus. Well, there is a modified version of Magisk that you can use now which is 100% compatible. If you have not yet rooted your Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus, you can follow our existing root guide here but simply use the new modified Magisk instead of SuperSU and you will have Magisk root instead of SuperSU on your Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus.
Here’s my first impressions of the new LG G7 ThinQ, I had some hands-on time at the LG G7 event in San Francisco. I’ve also included camera low-light test vs. Galaxy S9+ and Pixel 2 XL, 1000-nit brightness test, Boombox speaker test, demo of how to remove/hide the notch, and comparison vs. Galaxy S9+.
For those of you who want to get Google HDR+ camera on your Samsung Galaxy S9/S9 Plus or any Android smartphone(should work on most), now you can do it using XDA user KisaKuKu’s port. While many other ports have not worked with latest Samsung S9/S9 Plus, this latest version works great and as you can see in the video, you can get nearly identical or better performance as Pixel 2 camera by using Google HDR+ camera. I have also tested on other devices like LG G6 and LG V20, both of which also work really well with this version of Google HDR+ camera and improves your photos by a mile.
Galaxy S9 Plus? Is it the absolutely the best smartphone out in 2018? In terms of overall performance/value, I would like to say so. The Galaxy S9 Plus is Samsung’s latest flagship featuring Snapdragon 845 (or Exynos 9810) processor, 6.2 inch 1440P AMOLED curved screen, 6GB of RAM, 64/128/256GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 12MP F1.5/F2.4 dual back cameras, 8MP F1.7 front camera, stereo speakers, and Iris/Fingerprint/Face scanners for security. Packing a ton of features(as usual), Samsung has launched a beastly smartphone that may well be its best so far.
Pixel 2 series (Pixel 2 & Pixel 2 XL have identical cameras) are the king of smartphone photography and in this camera comparison, we are going to see if Samsung’s new Galaxy S9 Plus can do better. While I was very excited for the new F1.5 aperture on the Galaxy S9/S9 Plus, after doing some tests it does not live up to expectations.
In this tutorial/quick HOWTO, I show you how to use animated GIF in your AOD(Always-On-Display) with Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9 Plus. P.S. Also works on any older Galaxy phones running S9 ROM.
Thanks to XDA developer TopJohnWu, he has released Magisk V16.1 which now is fully-compatible with the latest Android P(9.0) so you can easily root your Pixel phones on latest Android P Preview and should work fine when official Android P comes out.
